ruediger blank is a performer of contemporary improvised music and a composer in the field of acousmatic music.
since the mid-1980’s he has been playing keyboards in bands within the genres of krautrock, progressive rock, heavy metal and jazz and has been on tour all over germany, austria,switzerland, poland, belgium, the netherlands and denmark.
since the early 2000’s, primary focus has been on contemporary improvised music. at first, using grand piano and synthesizer, then on the laptop using a graphics tablet and audio software supercollider.
the intention of his live improvisations is to create sound sculptures and musical forms and is focused on the moment and the time and space of the performance.
emphasis is on the interaction of abstract and manipulated electronic sounds in conjunction with conventional acoustic instruments.
active in various improvisational music groups and ad-hoc formations made up of international line-ups.
collaborating with dancers and painters on interdisciplinary projects.
performed at documenta 13 with the twitter novel project "thrill-snippets". accompaniment to silent movies.
improvisational rescoring of different tv-series and movies in live-dub over-performances.

stefan schmidt - born 1974 in baden-baden/germany - is a guitarist, composer and improviser. he gathered his first musical experiences as a member of various punk bands and then studied
classical guitar at the hochschule für musik trossingen with professor andreas higi and the conservatorio juan josé castro in buenos aires with victor villadangos.
since 2000 he has released more than 20 albums (from 2001 till 2014 using the moniker 'farang') and created music for films, plays, exhibitions and dance performances.
he is also working as a teacher for classical guitar in baden-baden and karlsruhe.
his sound may be described as a melting pot, integrating elements of industrial and noise as well as of asian, arabic and contemporary classical music.
while early projects put focus on distorted sounds and rhythms, recent works center about slowly evolving structures, sounddesign and free improvisation giving more emphasis on his main
instrument, the classical guitar and the exploration of other stringed instruments as the tenor ukulele and the bass ukulele.
